Job Description

An opportunity has become available at our Head Office (Cape Town) within Cape Union Mart for a Buyers Assistant within the Outdoor department.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive administrative support to Buyers in all equipment-related activities, including range building, supplier meetings, email queries, and product briefs.
  • Manage sample room and sample processes, including:
  • Requesting and following up on equipment samples.
  • Preparing samples for reviews and technical evaluations.
  • Coordinating sample handover for photography and marketing.
  • Maintaining organized sample storage.
  • Track and follow up on approvals and pre-production sample submissions.
  • Update PLM (Product Lifecycle Management), product lists, and reports with accurate imagery and technical information.
  • Assist with onboarding new equipment suppliers into the system.
  • Administer product codes, raise purchase orders (POs), send POs to suppliers, and ensure PLM is updated with product codes and PO numbers.
  • Load products onto PLM after range reviews and maintain updates for any amendments.
  • Prepare and organize sample sales prior to allocated dates.
  • Support review preparation and track elements related to equipment product development.
  • Manage the process of samples being photographed for online listings.
  • Provide information for marketing and visual merchandising briefs.
  • Assist in compiling store performance reports.
  • Offer visual support, such as preparing PowerPoint presentations for internal meetings.

 

Requirements:

  • Matric
  • Relevant tertiary qualification (Advantageous)
  • Candidates who have 1-2 years in a similar role will be given preference
  • Computer literacy and Microsoft Office Proficiency is a must
  • Product knowledge i.e. knowledge of consumer electronics and related products and trends
  • The ability to multitask & organize is essential to the role
